About

As living and working spaces get smaller and smaller, so decreases the potential for having a garden to enjoy. Vertical gardens provide an ideal solution to this growing dilemma by beautifying even the smallest of spaces. These living walls, as they are also referred to, have become very popular in Europe, North America and Asia and now the trend is shifting to South Africa.

Steven Miedema and Greg Nicolson started Garden Up in 2010 – a small Cape Town based business specializing in the design and installation of vertical gardens. Botanists at heart, we have been growing gardens for many years. Drawing on this experience we’ve developed a variety of vertical gardening methods to suit a range of different settings and applications. Of these a hydroponic system has shown to work best, as it’s easiest to maintain once installed. We custom-make each garden according to the size of the area and light received and we also have a number of free standing gardens that can be hired for events or conventions.

The benefits of indoor vertical gardens include improved air quality, insulation from heat and cold and the almost effortless beautification of limited space. We bring nature inside without mess or fuss.
